Occlusion & Esthetics Study Club 2007/08
Dr. Nasedkin is the mentor of TEST – The Esthetic Study Team now in it’s 24th year. This is a group for mature dentists meeting seven Monday afternoons a year. The primary focus is the integration of occlusion and esthetics through adhesive concepts. Treatments encouraged are more comprehensive than for his other two groups.

ESTHETICS AND FUNCTION:
This is a course outline of a one day program by Dr. Nasedkin.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
The laminate experience: Porcelain veneers at more than 20 years.
In 1984 dentists were mostly skeptical that slivers of porcelain could be bonded effectively to tooth structure. This presentation will trace the continuing evolution of this treatment modality and define the essential elements for clinical success. Long-term cases will illustrate the effectiveness of veneers in a variety of treatment situations.
Integrating bonded ceramics with occlusion and the TM joint.
1. Delineate essential occlusion/tm joint screening requirements for general dentists.
2. Identify the critical canine and anterior guidance patterns which support bonded porcelain over the long term.
3. Outline a sequence for restoring canine guidance and an occlusal adjustment technique for the restorations which hurt only on chewing.
The mastering and marketing of all-ceramic crowns
There is an aesthetic process by which patients accept anterior all-ceramic restorations. Criteria for selection of anterior restorations, with the techniques for preparation and cementation, and trouble-shooting will be presented. A shrink-wrap approach to decrease sensitivity is an essential element for success in this area.
Fixed-removable combination cases:
Reviving a lost art - the combination case as the reliable alternative to the implant prosthesis and the clasped partial denture.
Most clasped partials are worn in the pocket or the purse. Implant prosthesis are rejected due to cost, lack of bone or other reasons. It is timely to revisit the middle ground, reviewing the principles of fixed crowns in combination with attachment-retained partial dentures.
